                                                                                            Vilcabamba trek, 7days/6nights

                                                                                            This tour is experienced near and in the beautiful, 
                                                                                            small and still authentical village of Vilcabamba and its archaeological sites (Inca) 
                                                                                            which Hiram Bingham was really looking for, when he walked into the remains of Machu Picchu.

                                                                                            Vilcabamba has been the last known refuge of the Incas, who, from there, 
                                                                                            disappeared out of anyone´s eyesight. 
                                                                                            However, the Incas with their wisdom and magic, are said to still be living their long, legendary lives, 
                                                                                            probably somewhere closeby. 

                                                                                            This is a complete trek-route, which includes the visit at the important archaeological sites of Ñusta Hispana, 
                                                                                            Vitcos and Rosaspata. 
                                                                                            Every day, we’ll enjoy impressing and different attractions: panoramic views on spectacular mountains, 
                                                                                            and over highlands and lowlands. 
                                                                                            This is a trek, that cannot be compared with any other. It is very uncommercial, 
                                                                                            little known, and recommended by a lot of people who like adventure 
                                                                                            and who like to do something else than the crowd.

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 1: Cusco – Rosaspata – Ñusta Hispana – Vilcabamba la Nueva – Colonial Temple

                                                                                            At 8:00h, you will be picked up at Amauta Spanish School, 
                                                                                            in Cusco, and brought by bus to Huancacalle, 
                                                                                            where we’ll arrive at approximately 17:00 or 18:00h. 
                                                                                            In Huancacalle we will have lunch, and you can take some rest, for about 3 hours. 
                                                                                            After this, we will visit the archeological sites of Rosaspata and Ñusta Hispana. 
                                                                                            These sites were places of refuge for Manco Inca, 
                                                                                            who was fleeing from the Spaniards. Here, the last battles took place, 
                                                                                            which had the intention to get the Inca-empire back. Now, 
                                                                                            he National Institute of Culture is restoring the sites. 
                                                                                            At about 13:00h we’ll have our lunch in Huancacalle, 
                                                                                            and at 14:00h we’ll take direction to Vilcabamba la Nueva, which is a 3-hours walk. 
                                                                                            Here, we will visit the Colonial Temple, 
                                                                                            and the fortress of the religious Franciscan and Yupaccrumi classification
                                                                                            (stone with footprints of different animals). 
                                                                                            We will overnight at this place, which is situated at 3,250m.a.s.l..

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 2: Colonial Temple – Ututo

                                                                                            We’ll enjoy breakfast at 7:00h, after which we will hike to Ututo, 
                                                                                            in about 8 hours (2,800m.a.s.l.). From this place, 
                                                                                            we’ll enter the jungle, with its wonderful landscapes, and enormous diversity of flora and fauna. 
                                                                                            This night, we will spend in Ututo, at the banks of the Ututo river.

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 3: Ututo – Vista Alegre

                                                                                            After our breakfast, which we’ll have at 7:00h, 
                                                                                            we will walk from Ututo to Vista Alegre, which will take us about 8 hours. 
                                                                                            We will cross bridges, and see some Inca-trails, and some small archeological sites, 
                                                                                            which are hidden between the vegetation, and which are not even registered, yet. 
                                                                                            In Vista Alegre we will stay for the night (1,550m.a.s.l.). 

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 4: Vista Alegre - Concevidayoc

                                                                                            Again, we will have our breakfast at 7:00h. 
                                                                                            Today, we will hike from Vista Alegre to Concevidayoc, again in about 8 hours. 
                                                                                            We will pass Inca-trails, and have the opportunity to see the typical, 
                                                                                            rare ‘Tunki’-bird, also called ‘Gallito de las Rocas’. 
                                                                                            Furthermore, we will see the flower ´Puyu de Raymondi´, which is highly rare,
                                                                                            and is the biggest flower in the World, with it’s approx. 3 meters of height. 
                                                                                            In Concevidayoc (1,420m.a.s.l.) we will overnight.   

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 5: Concevidayoc – Espíritu Pampa

                                                                                            Today, we’ll enjoy our breakfast at 6:00h. From Concevidayoc, 
                                                                                            we will hike in 3 hours to the arqueological site of Espíritu Pampa,
                                                                                             which is one of the most important places of the trail. Therefore, 
                                                                                            we will take the whole day to visit these ruins. 
                                                                                            In Espíritu Pampa (1,200m.a.s.l.) will be our campsite. 
                                                                                            This place is still covered by vegetation: just a small part is cleaned by the Congregation of Salesianos, with help of the villages in the area.

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 6: Espíritu Pampa – Chihuanguire – Siete Tinajas

                                                                                            After our breakfast at 7:00h, we will hike from Espíritu Pampa towards Chihuanguire, which will take us around 5 hours. We will enjoy many different landscapes, 
                                                                                            And a huge diversity of flora and fauna in this tropical area, 
                                                                                            which is located at 800m.a.s.l.. Our lunch will be in Chihuanguire. 
                                                                                            Afterwards, we will go by car to the Siete Tinajas (6 hours of travelling), 
                                                                                            which is an old Indian sanctuary. 
                                                                                            This is the place where we will stay for the night. 

                                                                                            Vilcabamba day 7: Siete Tinajas – Quillabamba - Cusco

                                                                                            On this last day, we’ll visit/bathe in the Tinajas, 
                                                                                            which are natural formations of water, and pick-nick. 
                                                                                            After our lunch, we will go to Quillabamba (30 minutes by car) and finally towards Cusco (6 hours by car).
