Manu Biosphere & Macaw Clay Lick, day 1:

DAY 1. Cusco – Ninamarca - Bamboo lodge.
After your early pick-up (at about 5:15am), we will depart from Cusco at around 6am in our comfortable bus.
On the way, we will visit the funeral towers (chullpas) of Ninamarca.
After this, we will descend through the mysterious cloud forest, full of beautiful Orchids, Heliconia & primitive Ferns.
We will enjoy a stop, to have a chance of seeing the Cock of the Rock (Rupicola Peruvian) bird’s mating ritual. We may also spot the Amazonian Umbrella (Cephalopteros ornatus), Trogons (Trogon sp.) and many more birds. With a little luck, we’ll also see the only Bear in South America: the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus).
In the evening, we will arrive at our lodge.

Manu Biosphere & Macaw Clay Lick, day 2:

Bamboo lodge - Atalaya - Jungle Eco Lodge
After breakfast, we will continue by bus for about 1 hour, to reach Atalaya port. Here, we will continue in our motor boat, over the river of Madre de Dios (Mother of God).
After about 2 hours, with some interesting stops underway, we will reach Jungle Eco Reserve ecological reserve.
On this day, we will see different kinds of Monkeys, an impressive diversity of birds, with perhaps the spectacular flight of the jungle Condor (Sarcoramphus papa), king of the Vultures.
There will be an optional evening hike, to see different types of nocturnal creatures such as Spiders, Scorpions, Tarantula, Frogs, Toads…or we can go to the camouflage house, were you spend this night, to see the Brazilian Tapir.
After breakfast, we will continue by bus for about 1 hour, to reach Atalaya port. Here, we will continue in our motor boat, over the river of Madre de Dios (Mother of God).

Jungle Eco Lodge – Boca Manu - Blanquillo Lodge
First comes our delicious breakfast. The rest of the day, we will be traveling the river of Alto Madre de Dios. Along the way, we can see a wide variety of birds such as Herons, Egrets, Kingfishers, and the ever present Vultures.
In the afternoon, we will have a brief stop in the village of Boca Manu, to have the chance to buy handycrafts, enjoy an ice beer or soft drinks.
Then, we will continue until Blanquillo Lodge.
At night, we will enjoy a walk to explore some trails in the area. Overnight at lodge (with shower and toilets).

Manu Biosphere & Macaw Clay Lick, day 4:

Macaw clay lick – Oxbow Lake – Boca Manu Lodge
Today, we will visit the Macaw Clay Lick very early, as the activity is at 5am, which we can see from our hide-out where you can see the beauty of those spectacular Macaws & others Parrot species. After observing this activity for approximately 4 hours, we will visit the Oxbow Lake / Cocha Blanco.
Here, we will observe more wildlife: we will see many types of birds, and hopefully, we can see the Giant Otter & Black Caiman (Melanusuches niger).
After our lunch, we will go back to Boca Manu for the night.
Today, we will visit the Macaw Clay Lick very early, as the activity is at 5am, which we can see from our hide-out where you can see the beauty of those spectacular Macaws & others Parrot species. After observing this activity for approximately 4 hours, we will visit the Oxbow Lake / Cocha Blanco.
Here, we will observe more wildlife: we will see many types of birds, and hopefully, we can see the Giant Otter & Black Caiman (Melanusuches niger).
After our lunch, we will go back to Boca Manu for the night.
Manu Biosphere & Macaw Clay Lick, day 5:

Boca Manu Lodge – Casa Matsiguenka Lodge
We will get up very early, to go into the reserve on Manu river.
Throughout the day, we will be observing Turtle species on various points, the Black and White Caimans, and several varieties of birds, such as Neotropic Cormorant, Great Egret & Kingfisher.
We will get to Casa Machiguenka Lodge, which is managed by native Machiguenkas.
In the evening, we will walk over one of the tracks, to explore flora & fauna: species of Monkeys, Peccaries (like the White-Lipped Peccary) and the spectacular Jaguar on the river side, resting on the logs!
We will get up very early, to go into the reserve on Manu river.
Throughout the day, we will be observing Turtle species on various points, the Black and White Caimans, and several varieties of birds, such as Neotropic Cormorant, Great Egret & Kingfisher.
We will get to Casa Machiguenka Lodge, which is managed by native Machiguenkas.

Casa matsiguenka – Salvador Oxbow Lake –
Casa Matsiguenka
Today, we will make an early visit to the Salvador Oxbow Lake. We will quietly peddle in a catamaran, having the possibility to observe a family of Giant Otters fishing & playing, as well as Black Caiman, several rare birds such as Hoatzins (Opisthocomus hoatzin), Agami Herons, White-throated-Tucan, and Monkey species as well!
Manu is one of the few reserves, where the animals have never felt pressure of Humans.
We will return to our lodge at lunch-time.

Today, we will make an early visit to the Salvador Oxbow Lake. Waking up to the sounds of Howler Monkeys (Alouatta seniculus), we will set off to the bird observatory tower, before breakfast, which we won’t forget, of course!
From here, we can see the wildlife that exists in Oxbow Lake.
After our little hike, we will enjoy breakfast on the boat, continuing our return to Boca Manu, until we reach the Jungle Eco Lodge.
Again today, we will have chance to see the Jaguar & more wildlife, as well as other species of birds.
In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Jungle Eco Lodge reserve. Now, we have most chance to see the Jaguar!

Manu Biosphere & Macaw Clay Lick, day 8:

Jungle Eco Lodge – Atalaya - Cusco.
After breakfast, we will return to Atalaya by boat, where the bus waits for us to return to Cusco city, through the cloud forest.
We will arrive in Cusco at about 8:30pm.
